Yesterday I had a heavy metal toxicity panel drawn. I'm praying that also comes back clear. If it doesn't, I'll have to have my amalgam filling replaced with a composite filling and then start chelation therapy. That's just one more thing I'm going to have to remember to do. If you have a heavy metal burden they have to fix it or the Lyme treatment will not be as effective.
This round brings about the addition of more antibiotics. The antibiotics create bacterial die-off which exacerbates all of my symptoms. While they are not really side effects, they are adverse effects. Take the Minocycline, for instance...that's the first one they started me on. Dermatologists give that to people to clear up their acne. Those people don't also end up walking with a cane and noticing an increase in brain fog and confusion. Since I have the worst Lyme, which is neuro, it's causing problems with coordination and causing numbness/tingling (paresthesias) throughout my limbs. Instead of just my hands and feet it goes up to my knees and elbows. Basically, it's affecting my entire neurological system.
Here's the plan for Round 2...
After I have been on the Minocycline for 7 days, I start Mepron which is an anti-malarial drug given for Babesia. A lot of times Babesia is the bigger problem, which definitely appears to be so in my case. Babesia is the one co-infection that cannot be treated with antibiotics alone because it isn't a bacteria. It's a red blood cell protozoan parasite. How awesome is that?! I have tiny parasites in my red blood cells!
The following plan is only for Lyme and co-infections. It doesn't include what I'm supposed to do for the MTHFR protocol. That is something separate and will require another oral medication in addition to subcutaneous injections of compounded, methylated Vitamin B12, which is different than the intramuscular Vitamin B12 injections you've heard people talk about. I will be able to give those to myself. So, here's what I'm up to for the next 7 or 8 weeks.
Stop Milk Thistle and replace with N-acetyl cysteine 500mg once a day for liver support.
Continue Minocycline and once you have been on Minocycline for 7 days add in Mepron.
Mepron 750mg 1 teaspoon/packet after breakfast and dinner (if not having big meal need to take with a fat even a teaspoon of nut butter like almond/sunflower seed butter. With Mepron, must have some fat.) Complete 21 days of Mepron.
Once you have completed 7 days of Mepron will add Azithromycin 600mg every day, one daily with food.
After finished 21 days of Mepron will stop both Mepron and Azithromycin (will be less days of Azithromycin. On the first rotation, only 14 days) but continue antifungals.
Next will add Tindamax 500mg for 7 days. Tindamax you will take one after breakfast and dinner for 7 days then hold for 21 days. Continue antifungals.
After the 7 days of Tindamax will restart Mepron and Azithromycin (at the same time from here on out) and continue for 21 days per month.
